Video: Transparent touchscreen Smartphone – Docomo

Finally got some video of DoCoMo’s transparent touchscreen smartphone prototype at Wireless Japan 2012. As mentioned before it’s not suitable for bright areas, though the visibility is surprisingly not bad at close range. The touchscreen response was great and I can see how having two surfaces would make it easier give more complex commands, e.g. while playing a game. Looking forward to seeing this technology on the market. When they tackle to visibility factor and give us a bigger display, transparent touchscreen could be the next big thing.

Transparent touchscreen prototype by Docomo

NTT DoCoMo has developed a portable device that not only has a transparent display, but is also touchscreen, touchscreen on both sides! Apart from being really cool, the ability to operate both sides of the screen allows the user to input more complicated gestures. Being able to input gestures on the opposite side of the screen means the user’s fingers would not obscure their view of the display. Bad Breath, Hunger, and Alcohol Level Detector Apps for Android [Video]

Japanese cellphone operators DoCoMo had a strong showing at this year’s CEATEC (Combined Exhibition of Advanced Technologies 2011). The company exhibited a number of Android based mobile devices centered around monitoring health and diet. Among the devices on display were a food photograph analyzer, a hunger/fat burning detector,a breath checker and a breathalyzer.

The hunger analyzer consisted of a smartphone mounted on a cradle attached to an acetone detector. Acetone is a compound that is released by the body when we metabolize fat, so we produce more acetone when we’re hungry. …

Analyze Calorie Info from Pictures of Food.

On a diet? How would you like to know how many calories you will be taking in from a meal in a restaurant by just taking a picture of it. DOCOMO is working on a application which analyzes pictures of food to give a rough estimate of how many calories are contained within.
