A House that Can Survive the Apocalypse

19 January 2011 No Comment

Looking for a house that can survive the apocalypse? Well, Japan’s got you covered with this 10 ton bunker. The EDV-01 was designed to be transported away from an affected area in the event of a catastrophe. It’s equipped with satellite connectivity in the event of cellphone network failure, and it’s own power via fuel cells and solar panels. There’s also a bathroom, beds, and a kitchen so you can enjoy a bit of normalcy while the world outside is being destroyed.

This is a creation of Daiwa House Industries who are not shy about using technology to improve the future of housing. A few months ago they gave us the robot house inspector.
